ABSTRACT:Augmentin-associated nausea, vomiting, and constipation are common side effects of oral penicillins. The effects of Augmentin on body weight and other body functions have not been studied in patients with food allergy. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a combination of Augmentin and amoxicillin/clavulanate on body weight, heart rate, heart rate, respiratory rate, and cardiac output. Healthy volunteers were randomly assigned to receive either Augmentin alone, or Augmentin plus amoxicillin/clavulanate (50 mg/kg). Blood samples were collected at baseline, 3, 7, 14, and 30 min after treatment, before treatment and after 14 and 30 min after treatment. Body weight and heart rate were measured. Heart rate was measured using a pulse oximeter. The body weight and heart rate were also determined.
